Chelsea put Werner up for sale and are willing to offer him to Dortmund in a swap deal for Haaland

Chelsea are reportedly considering offloading Timo Werner following a woeful season in front of goal – and may use the German to tempt Erling Haaland to the club.

The 25-year-old, who joined the Blues from RB Leipzig last July for £47.5million, managed just six goals in 35 Premier League games and wasted a hatful of gilt-edged chances during his debut campaign in England.

Despite still having four years left to run on his contract, the west London club are reportedly keen to cash in on Werner this summer and have reportedly sounded out the possibility of swapping him for Haaland, according to Sky Sport in Germany.

Haaland enjoyed a stunning first full season at Borussia Dortmund last term, scoring 27 times in 28 Bundesliga games and bagging 41 goals in as many matches in all competitions.

Chelsea are said to accept that any offer to Dortmund to get arguably world football’s hottest young talent would require a player plus cash offer and may need to pay him more than top earner N’Golo Kante, who earns £290,000 a week.

However, Dortmund are said to have completely rejected the idea of a swap deal and are known for driving a hard bargain, as can be seen with the Jadon Sancho saga.

The latest club to have reportedly registered an interest in Haaland are Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus.

However, the Italian giants are said to be looking to sign the Norwegian next summer as Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement.

Haaland’s mind meanwhile seems very much on playing for his current club this season

He told Stadium Astro: ‘I talked a little bit with new manager Marco Rose. I know him from before because I had six months with him in Salzburg. He’s a nice guy and I look forward to working with him.’
