Bruno Fernandes Recommends Countryman To Man United

Bruno Fernandes has reportedly encouraged Manchester United to pursue a move for Mateus Fernandes ahead of the summer transfer window.

United are expected to strengthen their midfield options this summer, particularly with Casemiro approaching the end of his contract at Old Trafford.

The club are currently assessing several midfield targets, including Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and Sandro Tonali, reports Metro.

However, reports claim Bruno Fernandes has personally spoken highly of Mateus Fernandes to United’s recruitment team, with the pair sharing a strong connection through the Portuguese national side.

The 21-year-old joined West Ham United from Southampton FC last summer in a deal reportedly worth £38 million plus £4 million in add-ons.

Reports suggest the midfielder could become available for a lower fee if West Ham are relegated from the Premier League this season.

Fernandes recently earned his first senior call-up to the Portugal national football team and made his debut appearance after replacing Bruno Fernandes during a friendly win over the United States.

The former Sporting CP youngster has registered four goals and three assists in 35 appearances across all competitions this season.
