Barcelona are reportedly preparing a club-record offer for Julian Alvarez as they step up plans to replace departing striker Robert Lewandowski this summer.
The Argentine forward has emerged as Barcelona’s preferred target, with sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick viewing him as the ideal long-term successor.

Barcelona previously saw a €100 million proposal rejected by Atletico Madrid, but the Catalan club have not abandoned their pursuit.
According to reports in Spain, Barcelona intend to submit a new offer once Alvarez’s involvement at the 2026 FIFA World Cup comes to an end.
Record-Breaking Proposal Planned
The new proposal is expected to include a fixed fee of €135 million, significantly higher than Barcelona’s initial bid for the striker.
Additional performance-related bonuses could increase the total package to €150 million, making it the biggest transfer offer in the club’s history.
That figure would surpass the €148 million Barcelona paid to sign Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
Barcelona believe the improved offer could persuade Atletico Madrid to enter negotiations, although there are no guarantees of success.
Atletico Standing Firm Over Star Striker
Atletico have repeatedly insisted that Alvarez is not for sale and previously rejected a €150 million approach from Real Madrid.
Club officials have maintained that any interested side would need to activate the striker’s €500 million release clause to force a transfer.
However, there is growing belief that a substantial offer could eventually tempt Atletico to reconsider their stance, reports Barca News Network.
The funds generated from a potential sale could allow Diego Simeone’s side to strengthen multiple positions and reshape the squad.
For now, Barcelona remain determined to secure Alvarez’s signature and are expected to make one final push after the World Cup concludes.
