Barcelona Gave Antonio Conte Their Next Head Coach Offer

SPORT reports that FC Barcelona has made Antonio Conte an offer to take over as head coach in place of departing Xavi Hernandez.

According to Forbes, Legendary midfielder Xavi declared he would leave the high-pressure position on June 30 after his team lost to Villarreal 5-3 at the Montjuic Stadium last month.

To mention a few, Hansi Flick, Rafa Marquez, Sergio Conceicao, and Jurgen Klopp have all been connected to the Barca manager position.

Sporting Director Deco stated that the Blaugrana hasn’t started talks with any possible successor during an appearance on Esport3 on Wednesday night.

“We haven’t started talking to any coach, because we’re still coming to terms with Xavi’s farewell. Additionally, we need to pick up points to get back into the fight for the league and it’s time to help the team,” Deco stated.

“Since Xavi announced that he would not continue, many things have happened to us, such as the injuries to Ferran Torres, Joao Felix and [Alejandro] Balde and those are more important situations than talking about the future coach.”

“Before talking to anyone, we have to define the objectives and we are not yet finished with the season. There’s still a lot to compete for. There will be time to look into this matter. Will the decision be mine or [President Joan] Laporta’s? We talk a lot with the president and the decision will be joint,” Deco vowed.

But the moment to make that decision will come soon enough, and SPORT reports that Conte may be a contender.

In addition, he seems to be the kind of “top” coach the Blaugrana is looking for rather than hiring someone like Xavi, who has little to no experience managing in the elite, to succeed Ronald Koeman in 2021.

In addition to winning Chelsea’s sixth and final Premier League title with Chelsea in 2017, Conte also won four Serie A titles with Juventus and Inter Milan, despite his infamous Champions League failure.

Regarding his final season at Tottenham Hotspur, the less said about it, the better. However, Conte has been out of work since his dismissal in north London in March 2023 and may be rejuvenated to take the field by storm again.
