Barcelona CB Will Not Return In Time To Face Valencia, Xavi Confirms

In his pregame news conference prior to the Bayern Munich game, Xavi had provided a key update on Andreas Christensen’s injury, indicating that the player is still not fully recovered.

Xavi, however, said he anticipates Christensen would be ready for the weekend match against Valencia.

“He’s not fit yet, we’ll try to get him ready for next week. He’s fine and doing a great job. We will try to have him fit by the weekend,” Xavi said.

Christensen was sidelined after getting injured against Inter Milan on matchday three of the 2022–23 Champions League.

However, Christensen won’t be ready to play against Valencia this weekend, according to an update from Cadena SER.

In general, Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, and Eric Garcia have been preferred center backs for Barcelona, with the Dane coming in fourth. He has, however, generally been reliable whenever given the chance.

Currently, Barcelona only have the services of Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia. Meanwhile, Xavi occasionally chooses to play Marcos Alonso in that position as well.

It looks as though Xavi will still have to make do with his available duo against Valencia with Christensen now ruled out.
