Atlético Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Marc Cucurella this summer, but a move away from Chelsea F.C. looks highly unlikely at this stage.
The Spanish left-back has emerged as a dream target for Diego Simeone’s side as they continue searching for reinforcements in the full-back department ahead of the new season.
Cucurella has enjoyed a strong campaign at Chelsea, re-establishing himself as one of the club’s most reliable performers after a difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge.
The 27-year-old has featured heavily this season, making over 40 appearances and proving his value both defensively and in attack, reports The Hard Tackle.
Recent comments from the former Barcelona academy graduate about a possible return to Spain have only increased speculation over his long-term future.
Chelsea unwilling to let Cucurella leave this summer
Despite Atletico’s admiration, Chelsea are said to have no plans to sell Cucurella and reportedly view him as a key part of their squad moving forward.
The Premier League side are believed to have already made their position clear amid growing transfer interest from Spain.

Atletico remain in the market for a new left-back after concerns over consistency in that area, and Cucurella is seen as an ideal fit for Simeone’s system.
However, even with fresh financial backing, the Madrid club could struggle to tempt Chelsea into negotiations.
For now, Atletico may continue monitoring the situation, but unless Chelsea change their stance, Cucurella appears set to remain in west London beyond the summer transfer window.
