Arsenal ’employee’ resigns from job after Wenger’s comments on transfer spending

An Arsenal store employee identified as Jason Savage claims he resigned from his job at following Arsene Wenger’s statement on transfer spending.

You can always rely on a certain section of the Gunners’ support to provide the rest of the football world with entertainment. At no other club does (often understandable) frustration and anger so regularly turn into online amusement.

For the latest example, see one Arsenal fan’s reaction to Arsene Wenger’s most recent excuse for not spending any big money this summer – the fact the club has 600 employees.

“I’d spend £300million if I find the player and I had £300million,” the Frenchman claimed when asked (again) about his lack of transfer activity. “Do not forget we are a club who has 600 employees who we have to have a responsibility to as well.”

Unsurprisingly, Gooners everywhere were baffled/outraged/stunned to learn they have not signed any star players due to the wage demands of tea ladies/stewards/turnstile operators.

But this apparent resignation letter, from a club shop employee, has gone one step further than standard Gooner disgust:

No doubt many supporters will agree with the decision of this mystery man, who has reacted to Wenger’s statement by handing in his notice.

“My decision for leaving is due to Mr Arsene Wenger’s comments about staff after the recent draw against Leicester City,” he writes. “To blame having to pay the 600 people working at Arsenal Football Club for not buying a player is a disgrace.”
