Newcastle United’s co-owners Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Amanda Staveley praised the team’s supporters for their turnout against Aston Villa on Tuesday.

At Villa Park, Eddie Howe’s team had the support of a sold-out away crowd as the Magpies won just their second Premier League away game of the year thanks to goals from Alex Moreno’s own goal and a brace from Fabian Schar in the first half.

They also defeated Villa at home for the first time in nearly a year. Before the game began, Unai Emery’s team had scored 28 of a possible 30 points at home thus far this season.

“That was one hell of a game,” Ghodoussi posted on X. “The lads worked their socks off I think that’s our first win at Villa Park since 2013 and the first time Villa has lost at home since Feb 23. And let’s not forget the incredible support tonight.”

Staveley concurred with her husband’s remarks regarding the traveling supporters. On Instagram, she posted, “Excellent performance tonight! I am incredibly proud of our team.

Newcastle ended a run of four straight Premier League defeats and moved back up to seventh in the league table ahead of Manchester United, Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion. Next up Howe’s side is Luton Town at St James’ Park on Saturday.
