Alejandro Garnacho, a Premier League footballer, has been convicted of speeding away from Manchester United’s training complex only days before leaving the club.
The 21-year-old winger was driving his black Audi RS 3 when he triggered a speed camera near the club’s Carrington facilities.
Garnacho was driving at 50mph in a 40mph zone on August 26, 2025, four days before joining Chelsea for £40 million.
Garnacho pleaded guilty to speeding at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court, apologizing for the incident and expressing his “embarrassed” feelings.

“Mr Garnacho accepts that he exceeded the speed limit and has pleaded guilty,” his solicitors at JMW Solicitors stated.
“Mr Garnacho admits that this was an oversight on his part and apologizes for the offence. Our client is embarrassed that he is currently in this situation and apologizes to the Court for the excess speed offense.”
Garnacho was also charged with failing to answer to a Greater Manchester Police letter on the speeding offense when he was asked to identify the driver of his vehicle in October of last year.
However, Garnacho pleaded guilty to speeding, and the charge was dropped.
Magistrate Jane Haynes fined the footballer £660 and ordered him to pay £120 in costs and a £264 victim surcharge. Garnacho was also given three penalty points on his licence.
The Argentine international came through Manchester United’s academy but left after falling out of favour with previous manager Ruben Amorim. He made 36 appearances for the club prior to joining Chelsea.
Garnacho was convicted and sentenced in a tribunal held behind closed doors under the Single Justice Procedure.
