Manchester United remain admirers of Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealing the club would be ready to explore a deal if the French international becomes available this summer.
Interest in the 26-year-old is nothing new, with United having tracked his situation for several months, reports Team Talk.
Reports earlier this year suggested the Premier League side had made contact with the player’s representatives as they assessed midfield options ahead of the new campaign.
Tchouameni’s Future Uncertain Amid Mourinho Rebuild
According to Romano, United’s appreciation of Tchouameni has not changed. The club view the France international as an elite midfielder who could significantly strengthen Michael Carrick’s squad.
However, two major obstacles remain. The first is Tchouameni’s salary, which is currently considered beyond the financial structure United are aiming to maintain.

The second is Real Madrid’s stance, with the Spanish giants yet to formally indicate that they are willing to sell the midfielder.
Despite that, there have been suggestions that Tchouameni’s long-term future at the Santiago Bernabeu may not be completely secure. Real Madrid’s ongoing squad rebuild under Jose Mourinho has already seen several high-profile arrivals, and further additions are expected before the transfer window closes.
Sources indicate that Tchouameni has been informed there are no guarantees regarding his role moving forward, particularly if Madrid continue to strengthen in midfield. That development has alerted several clubs across Europe, including Manchester United and Liverpool.
While no formal negotiations have taken place, United are believed to be monitoring the situation closely and could move quickly should Real Madrid soften their position.
For now, Tchouameni remains a Real Madrid player, but with Mourinho continuing to reshape his squad, speculation surrounding the French midfielder’s future is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
