Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly opened discussions over a move for Roma midfielder Manu Kone as Roberto De Zerbi continues his ambitious squad rebuild ahead of the new season.

After strengthening their defence with the arrivals of Jan-Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, Spurs have now shifted their focus towards reinforcing the midfield.
The North London club have already made progress in their pursuit of Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali, who is believed to have agreed personal terms, while talks are also advancing with West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes.
According to reports in Italy, Tottenham have now added Kone to their shortlist and are considering a move worth around £40 million for the France international.
The 25-year-old remains open to several options this summer but is said to be attracted by the prospect of joining De Zerbi’s project in North London.
Compared to the fees being discussed for Tonali and Fernandes, Kone could represent a more affordable solution while still adding quality and physicality to Spurs’ midfield.
Kone is currently representing France at the World Cup and recently featured in midfield during his country’s victory over Iraq. A strong tournament could further increase interest in his services.
Tottenham’s pursuit of multiple midfielders could also lead to departures from the current squad. Reports suggest Lucas Bergvall is considering his future as he seeks more regular first-team opportunities, reports give me sport.
Should Spurs complete deals for one or more of their midfield targets, competition for places will intensify, potentially paving the way for exits as De Zerbi reshapes his squad for the 2026/27 campaign.
