Andoni Iraola has emerged as the new driving force behind Liverpool’s ongoing pursuit of Yan Diomande, the talented teenage winger from RB Leipzig.
Over the past 12 months, the 19-year-old Ivorian has seen a stratospheric ascent. He made a tremendous impression during his first Bundesliga season and then delivered a stellar display for Ivory Coast in their 1-0 World Cup triumph over Ecuador.
Diomande’s performance in Philadelphia—creating five opportunities, completing four successful dribbles, and winning 11 duels—has increased his profile and highlighted Liverpool’s desperate attempt to sign him.
Following 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 games this season, the young player is considered one of the most promising young players in world football.

As early as December, TEAMtalk reported that the Reds were in “nearly daily contact” with the winger’s representatives.
Sources now indicate that Liverpool and Leipzig have had fruitful conversations about a summer transfer. The Reds see the quick, technically proficient forward as Mohamed Salah’s ideal long-term replacement because he can play equally well across the forward line.
Iraola, who was recently named as Liverpool manager following the dismissal of Arne Slot, is reportedly a major fan of Diomande’s dynamic style.
TEAMtalk stated that the Spanish tactician is actively pressuring the club’s management to finalize the transfer, in addition to being in sync with Richard Hughes’ desire to recruit him.
Leipzig Slap €130m On Diomande
Leipzig, however, have set a strict minimum price of €130 million (£112 million) and are not in a hurry to sell. Both that and the challenge of Paris Saint-Germain pose serious threats for Liverpool.
Leipzig are aiming to make a sizable profit on their investment after signing Diomande from Leganes for €20 million (£17.3 million) just a year ago.
