Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has announced that he would make a “club-record offer” of more than €150 million next week to recruit a new “Galactico”.
Perez is presently campaigning for votes from Real Madrid’s 95,000 registered members ahead of Sunday’s election, after competitor Enrique Riquelme made some wild comments on Wednesday night.
While Perez announced the signing of Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer and Jose Mourinho’s return to oversee the squad, Riquelme appeared on the famous TV show ‘El Hormiguero’ wearing a Real Madrid shirt with Erling Haaland’s name on the back.
“Erling Haaland and Rodri will be my star signings if I become president,” Riquelme stated.

Haaland’s father and agent made a fast denial in a joint statement, after which City dismissed the notion and threatened Riquelme with legal action.
A swing and a miss, you would say, as Perez talked with Horizonte on Thursday to preview his own massive deal.
First, he revealed that Real Madrid had activated Denzel Dumfries’ £20 million release clause to buy him from Inter Milan.
“Mourinho and Konaté are coming, and now I say Dumfries.” A very good right back. “But we’ll have good players in other positions,” he said.
Perez’s ‘Galactico’ signing.
One such player is expected to cost “at least €150 million,” Perez stated, before hinting at which “Galactico” he was alluding to like a troll delivering riddles from beneath a bridge.
“I’m going to make an offer to a Champions League club on Tuesday that will be the most Real Madrid has ever paid for a player, at least €150 million.
“It’s not Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, or Michael Olise…”
“The €150 million deal does not involve a defender. The position might be midfielder or forward. He’s a young player. And he’s not from the Premier League. He’s totally galactic.”
“But first we will talk to the club, and we will not do what this man has done,” Perez said, referring to Riquelme’s Haaland claim.
On Mourinho’s arrival, Perez said: “I’m really thrilled; Mourinho is the one who made us competitive again; he developed the atmosphere that allowed us to win six Champions Leagues after him.
