Liverpool Get Answer After Exploring Deal For Man United Target

West Ham United midfielder, Mateus Fernandes is reportedly being pursued by Liverpool and Manchester United this summer.

The gifted young Portugal international has excelled at the London Stadium this season, and it appears that he may soon land a big move.

It was previously reported that Liverpool held preliminary discussions to sign Fernandes.

Despite suggestions that £55 million could be sufficient to persuade West Ham to sell, it’s possible that the Reds will find it difficult to complete a deal.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United, City, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain have joined Liverpool in their pursuit of Fernandes.

Importantly, though, the report also state that the Hammers have no plans to allow him or any of their other top players leave this summer.

According to the piece, Fernandes and other key players like Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville appear to be of interest to West Ham.

However, it’s possible that Fernandes won’t be available for this transfer window at least because the Hammers reportedly want to prevent any of their departures.

A Big Blow For Liverpool

If this turns out to be true, Liverpool will suffer a significant setback. The 21-year-old would have been a perfect long-term successor for Alexis Mac Allister, who will turn 28 later this year and is beginning to show signs of decline.

Given that Casemiro will be departing on a free transfer and Manuel Ugarte has not done well, United may need to revamp their whole midfield this summer.

Fernandes’ profile appears perfect for the Red Devils, therefore it will be interesting to see whether these teams attempt to convince West Ham with big offers.
