Jeremie Frimpong signed from Bayer Leverkusen last summer for about £29 million, however Liverpool legend Jan Molby is still not impressed.
Although Frimpong’s release clause was triggered to bring him to the club, injuries have prevented Liverpool from witnessing the 24-year-old’s full potential.
Despite having a spotless injury record, Frimpong appears to have had trouble adjusting to the Premier League’s intensity, as evidenced by his multiple hamstring problems.
Although Frimpong has occasionally impressed when he has been completely fit and available, Molby admits he has not yet seen the long-term potential of the player.
Molby Isn’t Pleased With Frimpong’s Performance
“I struggle with it, and I’ve had that problem for a while,” Molby told Anfield Index. “It’s only natural that football fans wish new players to do well.
“Frimpong only had to do one thing and people would go ‘He’s getting better, you know.’
“I’ve always been a little bit critical, because look beyond his pace and then tell me where are the top four Premier League qualities. I don’t see it.
