Following Liam Rosenior’s departure, former Chelsea captain John Terry claims he has not received an invitation to join Calum McFarlane’s backroom staff.
After just 107 days in charge and seven losses in his previous eight games, Rosenior was fired as Chelsea’s manager on Wednesday.
In a statement on Wednesday night, Chelsea announced Rosenior’s departure and confirmed that McFarlane, a former head coach of the Under-21 squad, would lead the first team until the end of the current campaign.
McFarlane took over as caretaker manager and oversaw both a 2-1 loss to Fulham and a 1-1 draw away to Manchester City after Enzo Maresca left the first team in January.

McFarlane was elevated to Rosenior’s backroom staff after his promotion, and he is now temporarily in charge as Chelsea aim to qualify for the Champions League and win the FA Cup.
Terry, a part-time consultant for Chelsea’s academy, was not part of McFarlane’s backroom crew in January, and it doesn’t appear like he will join the senior squad for the season’s last games.
Terry Confirms He Is Not Joining McFarlane
According to the Evening Standard, the former England international has made it clear that he wants to work in management, but he used his TikTok channel to clarify that he hasn’t received a call from McFarlane inviting him to join his backroom team.
“I am not sure what Calum’s backroom staff is going to look like, I have not had a call, I have not had a message,” said Terry on Wednesday night. “I will be continuing my role in the academy, I will be in the academy tomorrow, a big couple of games coming up.
“We will all get behind Calum, he did a great job away against Man City previously and we will get behind the boys because that is what we do.”
