Gerrard Answers If Slot Should Be Sacked

Steven Gerrard has made it plain that Arne Slot needs time to solve Liverpool’s issues, but he has warned the Dutchman that if his team continue to play in a “two-faced” manner, the club’s supporters will become increasingly irate.

In the struggle to qualify for the Champions League, Slot and his team are under tremendous strain. Liverpool are now in fifth place, three points ahead of Brentford in seventh and one point ahead of Chelsea in sixth.

However, owing to the team’s inconsistent performance in the league, the Dutchman is under close scrutiny less than a year after winning the Premier League.

A sizable section of the team’s supporters are also starting to have doubts about the former Feyenoord manager.

Gerrard Backs Slot

Speaking on the Overlap, when asked if Slot still has credit in the bank, Gerrard replied: “He has with me because I know more than anyone on the planet how difficult it is to win a league, and for him to come in and win a league, in his first season, he’s got a lot more credit with me.

“I think someone who has won a league deserves at least a full season to try and get out of the problems and issues that they’ve got, I’m certainly one of them.

“But, I have to understand what the fans are saying as well, because it has been dire on certain games and performances.”

Gerrard went on to criticize how Liverpool’s performance in the Champions League differs from their performance in the Premier League after endorsing Slot to turn things around.
