Speaking on BBC Five Live, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that much of the performance was due to one man and that the quality of opposition should not be overlooked. “Mo Salah almost looked back to his best; he changed the set up for Ekitike and the finish for his goal; he looked sharp, he looked at it, and he was chasing the ball down. Szoboszlai has been essential in everything they do, and I believe he has been their finest player this season, and everything just seemed to click. The fluidity, the front foot, the closing down, the performance in the final third, Liverpool’s performance in the second half is undoubtedly one of the best.
“Listen, Galatasaray didn’t make things too difficult for them, but don’t underestimate them; this is a Galatasaray that has already defeated them twice this season. They led the Turkish League by seven points and headed into this match with a one-goal advantage. All in all, Galatasaray were quite passive tonight. Liverpool did not let them enter the game. They were really delicious.”
