Liverpool, managed by Arne Slot, were expected to challenge strongly for the title again this season.
However, the draw against Tottenham leaves them far behind league leaders Arsenal in the Premier League standings.
Keane highlighted the significant drop in Liverpool’s performance levels compared to last season’s title-winning campaign.
He insisted that top teams must prove their quality by defending their crown successfully.
Keane accuses Liverpool squad of celebrating too much
The outspoken pundit suggested there may be deeper problems within the Liverpool dressing room this season.
According to Keane, the lack of chemistry among players indicates possible issues behind the scenes affecting the team’s performances.
Liverpool currently sit fifth in the Premier League table with only a handful of matches remaining this season, reports GOAL.
Their position leaves them fighting for Champions League qualification rather than competing for another league title.
Keane also accused the Liverpool squad of celebrating their previous title success too early and for too long.
He claimed the team appeared to focus more on celebrations during the closing weeks of last season rather than preparing to maintain their dominance in the following campaign.
