Liverpool could reportedly move for Micky van de Ven if Tottenham Hotspur are relegated this season.
The Dutch centre-back has emerged as a possible defensive target for Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window as the club continues monitoring options to strengthen its back line.
Liverpool previously showed interest in Marc Guehi but failed to secure a deal before his move elsewhere, reports Mirror.
As a result, Van de Ven has been identified as an alternative should Tottenham’s struggles lead to major squad changes at the end of the campaign.
The 24-year-old defender has been one of Tottenham’s most consistent performers this season despite the club’s disappointing position in the Premier League standings.
Relegation fears could spark Tottenham player departures
If Tottenham were to suffer relegation, several key players could be sold as the club attempts to reduce its wage bill.
That situation could make Van de Ven available for a lower transfer fee, creating an opportunity for Liverpool to secure a bargain signing during the summer transfer window.

Former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer believes the Reds could take advantage if Tottenham drop into the Championship and begin selling players.
He suggested Liverpool might move quickly to secure the Dutch international at a reduced price should Tottenham’s financial situation force them into transfers.
Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood also believes Van de Ven would be a strong fit for Liverpool’s defence.
The defender has previously spoken about admiring Liverpool after visiting Anfield, where he described the atmosphere as unforgettable.
