Fan Attends Wrong Football Stadium 366 Miles Away

A Spanish football fan was “gutted and embarrassed” to discover himself at the stadium for League One team Exeter City after anticipating seeing Barcelona FC play in the UEFA Champions League.

According to Exeter City Football Club, the fan arrived at the wrong St. James Park in Exeter, Devon, on Tuesday night instead of St. James’ Park in Newcastle after travelling from London.

According to the club, he didn’t realize the mistake until he showed his ticket to the staff.

BBC stated that he received a complimentary ticket from the club to Exeter City’s League One match against Lincoln City, which the Grecians lost 0-1.

Meanwhile, Barcelona FC and Newcastle United played 1-1 at a distance of almost 366 miles (589 kilometers).

The Barcelona supporter was described as “pretty gutted and a bit embarrassed” by Exeter City supporter experience officer Adam Spencer.

The man’s English was “not great,” according to Spencer, but the team assumed he had come from London.

“My guess is he’d put St James Park in his phone and then just followed the directions from there,” he said.

“We sorted him out a ticket and he got to watch a game at the real St James Park.”

Spencer said the man was “welcome back anytime”.
