Liverpool are reportedly preparing to break their transfer record to sign Nico Williams as speculation grows over the long-term future of Mohamed Salah.
The Reds are expected to reshape their squad this summer after an inconsistent campaign that has seen the defending champions struggle in the Premier League.

Liverpool recently suffered a 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers before responding by knocking the same opponents out of the FA Cup.
However, their problems continued in Europe after a 1-0 loss to Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League.
Nico Williams and Kulusevski emerge as possible Salah replacements
Reports from Spain claim Liverpool are ready to trigger Williams’ release clause at Athletic Club, which could rise to around €100 million (£86.5m) this summer.
Such a deal would represent a club-record transfer fee for the Spanish side and underline Liverpool’s determination to add more attacking quality.
Although Williams primarily operates on the left wing, his arrival could help replace the attacking output and star power provided by Salah.
Saudi Pro League clubs are reportedly continuing to monitor the Egyptian star, raising the possibility of a major transfer offer, reports Daily Star.
Another potential option has also been suggested by former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson, who believes Dejan Kulusevski could be a suitable replacement.
The Tottenham Hotspur winger enjoyed a strong 2024-25 season with 10 goals and 11 assists in 50 matches, although he has missed the current campaign after suffering a serious knee injury.
Johnson suggested Kulusevski’s ability to glide past defenders is similar to Salah’s style and could make him a valuable addition if Liverpool decide to move for the Swedish international.
