Donnarumma praises Real Madrid but sees opportunity
Speaking during a press conference, the Italian goalkeeper acknowledged that Mbappe’s absence could slightly reduce the threat City will face in attack.
“I’ve been lucky enough to play with Kylian, and he’s one of the best players in the world,” Donnarumma said.
“As a goalkeeper, not having Kylian in front of you can be an advantage because you have less work to do. But we will still face great players.”
The City shot-stopper also wished Mbappe a speedy recovery and said he hopes the forward returns in time for the second leg, reports Madrid Universal.
Despite the injury setback for Madrid, Donnarumma warned that the Spanish giants remain one of the favourites to win the Champions League because of their history and mentality in the competition.
He also praised Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, describing him as one of the best in the world and someone he has admired for a long time.
Donnarumma concluded by stressing that City must control their emotions if they hope to secure a positive result in the intense atmosphere of the Bernabeu.
