Barcelona Confirm Injury To Star Defender

Jules Kounde has reportedly sustained a thigh injury, according to an additional official statement from Barcelona following the news of Alejandro Balde’s hamstring injury.

But unlike Balde, who will miss four weeks of action, the Blaugrana have not given the French right-back a recovery timeline.

Last night’s starting lineup against Atletico Madrid included Kounde, who has appeared in all but one of Barcelona’s games this season.

“Jules Kounde is suffering from an injury in the middle third of the left thigh’s biceps femoris. His recovery will determine his availability,” the statement read as quoted by Barca Universal.

Nevertheless, the France international experienced considerable pain in the back of his leg with less than 10 minutes remaining.

After receiving medical care, it was decided to sub him off the pitch and replace him with Balde.

Kounde’s hamstring injury has now also been confirmed by Barcelona, however they haven’t provided a timeframe for his recovery and return.

Even though it was first thought that Kounde’s injury would not be as severe as Balde’s, Javi Miguel of AS reports that he has a hamstring tear and might be out for about a month.

This would result in the starting right-back missing a couple La Liga games against Athletic Club, Sevilla, and Rayo Vallecano in addition to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 encounter against Newcastle United.
