Director of recruitment Christopher Vivell is reportedly leading interest in Agoumé, who previously attracted attention from Old Trafford last summer.
The 24-year-old has impressed in LaLiga, earning a reputation as a midfield “destroyer” due to his defensive dominance and ball-winning ability.
Reports suggest Agoumé is outperforming Carlos Baleba in key metrics including interceptions, tackles, aerial duels won and passes into the final third.
Affordable Alternative to Premier League Targets
United’s primary midfield target remains Elliot Anderson, though Nottingham Forest are expected to demand a fee exceeding £80 million.
Baleba is also highly rated by Brighton, with his valuation potentially approaching £70–100 million, reports Team Talk.
By contrast, Agoumé was previously available for around £20 million, though Sevilla’s asking price may have risen due to his recent performances.
With LaLiga clubs facing financial pressures, United believe a deal could still represent strong value compared to domestic options.
Agoumé’s physicality, passing range and defensive awareness make him an attractive partner for Kobbie Mainoo in midfield.
United’s recruitment strategy under INEOS appears focused on balancing marquee signings with smart, value-driven acquisitions ahead of a crucial summer rebuild.
