Manchester United Interested In Struggling Chelsea Star

The Red Devils have had a difficult season so far, but they have shown substantial improvement since Michael Carrick was anointed caretaker head coach last month.

Carrick has been in charge until the end of the season, but a run of four victories and a draw in his first five games would only strengthen his prospects of being appointed permanently this summer.

In the meantime, it looks that United is looking to sign a forward from one of their main rivals this summer.

According to CaughtOffside, the Red Devils are one of several clubs tracking Chelsea striker Liam Delap ahead of the summer transfer season.

According to the article, the striker’s sluggish start at Chelsea has sparked speculation over his future, with many clubs keeping an eye on his position.

Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Sunderland, and Everton are all reportedly interested in the Englishman.

Delap, 23, joined the Blues from Ipswich Town last summer after scoring 12 goals in 27 outings for the Tractor Boys previous season.

His move to Stamford Bridge hasn’t gone entirely to plan so far, with Delap scoring only once in 17 Premier League outings this season.

According to reports, Chelsea may be willing to let the striker leave the club this summer, and while a loan deal seems likely, the Blues may also contemplate a permanent transfer.

Delap is under contract in west London until the conclusion of the 2030/31 season, after signing a long-term deal with the Club World Cup champions last summer.
