Barcelona’s sports director Deco has confirmed the club’s plans for Andreas Christensen, who is presently sidelined and will be out of contract in the summer.
There has also been speculation that Joan Laporta is willing to extend the Dane’s contract for another year, and Deco claims the club will make an offer to the defender.
“With some guys, like Andreas, the plan was to continue his path a little this season. He is a player who has contributed significantly. In his debut year with Xavi, he played a lot of games and was instrumental in winning the league. “He is a high-level player,” he told Sport.
“However, it is true that injuries have kept him in shape in recent years. The plan for this season was to analyze their circumstances and then decide how to proceed. The injury came a bit before that choice.
“We don’t want to leave the player in a difficult situation because we believe he will be unable to play between now and the end of the season.”

“So, the goal is to offer him something compatible, which we believe is fair. Following that, the player is free to choose decisions. He is not required to stay at Barça, but we will attempt to ensure that he has an offer on the table, that he can examine it, and then determine what is best for his future.”
