‘I Want To Be Like Lampard And Win More Trophies’ – Chelsea Star

The mention of his game-winning goal against West Ham in the 92nd minute last Saturday makes Enzo Fernandez smile.

Another high point in a long season. It was the campaign’s 11th goal and the most recent to result from a Frank Lampard-esque run into the box.

Enzo has changed from a deep-lying playmaker to a goalscorer at Chelsea something akin to Lampard.

As it turns out, he has been researching a club legend who served as his head coach for a brief period of time between Mauricio Pochettino and Graham Potter.

Enzo Lauds Lampard’s Achievement At Chelsea

“He’s an inspiration,” he tells Sky Sports.

“I’ve watched a lot of videos of Frank since coming to Chelsea. I’ve seen how he got into those last metres of the pitch and how he got into the box.”

Fernandez is now handling things on his own. He actually has 27 goals from his first 151 games, exactly the same as Lampard, all of which were scored while wearing the same Chelsea shirt number.

“During the time he was our coach, I didn’t play in this position, I played further back, so I couldn’t talk to him much about it. But I’ve been watching and learning from his videos since I came to the club.

“He was an exceptional player and a legend here for Chelsea. I don’t like to be compared to him, because he has achieved a lot more here than I have. He’s an idol. I hope to follow in his footsteps at Chelsea.”

It is obvious that much work remains until Lampard’s accomplishments are matched. However, Fernandez has achieved a lot in just three years. 27 goals and 151 appearances. In addition, he had two trophy victories, five head coaches, and a gradual defence of his £107 million price tag.
