Tonali ‘very Happy’ At Newcastle Amid Arsenal Links

Manager Eddie Howe says Sandro Tonali is “very happy” at Newcastle United after being linked with a move to Arsenal.

On deadline day, a report surfaced claiming that the Premier League leaders were considering a move for Tonali, but Newcastle denied that the midfielder was for sale and that no contact had been made.

Tonali’s agent, Giuseppe Riso, denied speaking to Arsenal, but in an interview with Sky Italia, he was asked about the club’s valuation and responded “that’s something we will do in March or April if Newcastle are open to it”

Howe talked with Tonali on Monday and stated that the Italian is “absolutely focused on the here and now and playing for us” as the holders prepare for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester City.

“His only focus was on Manchester City and trying to win that game so there’s absolutely no issue with Sandro himself,” according to him.

“He’s very happy and committed so I find it difficult to talk about things I don’t know too much about.”I can only comment about Sandro as a person and athlete, as well as his current mindset. I spoke with him yesterday, and he is completely OK.”

Tonali stated in November that he was “happy” at Newcastle, but that thinking about the long term was “difficult”.

When the Italian joined Newcastle from AC Milan in 2023, he signed a five-year contract.

Tonali wanted to return Newcastle’s faith in him throughout his 10-month betting ban, so he signed a new one-year contract.
