Barcelona’s recruiting for Barca Atletic has been in motion for much of the last month, but the Catalan giants’ first move has yet to be completed. A contract with Al-Ahly for Hamza Abdelkarim has apparently been agreed upon, but the transfer is still pending.
The Blaugrana have agreed to sign Juwensley Onstein to improve their Barca Atletic side, as Juliano Belletti plans a promotion drive to get the affiliate club back into the third division. Meanwhile, left-back Patricio Pacifico is expected to follow him through the door. According to reports in Egypt, Abdelkarim’s move to Barcelona has been confirmed, although the deal has not yet been completed.

According to the Catalan daily, the club is being cautious over the signing of Abdelkarim. The deal has not been made official due to administrative issues, but no other information is provided. Abdelkarim, for his part, has said goodbye to his teammates and is awaiting the completion of the transaction.
Terms of Agreement with Al-Ahly
Barcelona has granted the go-ahead for the move to be completed on an initial loan basis with options to buy. The option to buy will be worth €3 million, but this charge might climb to €5 million depending on the circumstances. There is also a stipulation in the agreement that will make the option to buy mandatory, based on how much game time Abdelkarim spends.
The 18-year-old forward has made nine appearances for Al-Ahly’s first squad and is considered a classic number nine in the genre. Barcelona was impressed by him during his appearances for Egypt’s under-17 team, when he scored 12 goals in 19 games.
