Fermin Lopez would be thrilled to see Lionel Messi return to Barcelona even if it meant going to the bench.
The 22-year-old has become as one of the Blaugrana’s most reliable players this season, but if an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner could return to Catalunya for an emotional farewell tour, he would gladly give up a playmaking position at Camp Nou.
When Messi left Barcelona as a free agent in 2021 to join Paris Saint-Germain, he broke his long-standing relationship with the team.
Tears were shed before he left, as the legendary Argentine was driven out due to well reported financial difficulties.

Messi is currently in the United States with Inter Miami and has agreed to a new contract with the MLS Cup champions through 2028.
There doesn’t seem to be much likelihood of him playing again in Europe at the age of 38.
Fermin is, however, prepared to cling to that dream.
Lopez Desire Messi’s Return To Camp Nou
According to Goal, the product of Barcelona’s fabled La Masia academy system has told reporters when asked who his dream team-mate would be: “If it were up to me to sign someone for Barca, I would sign Leo Messi. If they bench me for Messi, so be it!”
Although Fermin has occasionally been left out of Barcelona’s starting lineup this season, head coach Hansi Flick frequently selects him. This is due to the fact that the 2025–26 season saw 10 goals and an equal number of assists, including a Champions League hat-trick against Olympiacos.
