Rob Edwards’ Wolves are fighting to avoid relegation in the Premier League. They approached the former Watford and Luton Town player earlier this winter. He was chosen as their replacement for Vitor Pereira, who was fired following a dismal run of results.
Edwards left Middlesbrough in the Championship to face a new challenge at Molineux. His team is in the relegation zone, along with Burnley and West Ham. After their weekend match against Newcastle United, they return to action on Saturday away against Manchester City.
CaughtOffside reports that Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes is a’major target’ for Napoli. According to the report, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, and Crystal Palace are also interested. However, Liverpool is thought to have cooled their interest.

Gomes, 24, has a contract until June 2030, so he still has plenty of time to complete it. However, he is expected to leave this summer, particularly if his present team falls into the second tier. They’ll be eager to acquire as much money for his signature as possible.
What has Wolves coach Rob Edwards said regarding possible January exits?
Wolves head coach Edwards has not ruled out leaving before the transfer window closes. If they receive a large offer for Gomes’ services, they will have to make a decision. Striker Jorgen Strand Larsen has also been linked with a departure.
Edwards provided this update: “A lot of the lads want to attempt to right some of the wrongs and aid the club. They want to succeed, not only for themselves, but also for the football team. They’re all sincerely committed. That is not to suggest that no one will go; I have consistently stated this throughout. However, no one is knocking down the door or attempting to force anything. “That is not the case.”
He continued, “They’re here and fully committed, and we’ll handle everything individually. If we believe it is in the best interests of the club, we may consider it, but only if it is also in our best interests. We have good players here, so I expect rumors and conjecture, but that’s where things stand right now. We’ll deal with it if it comes up on an individual basis, but I’m under no obligation to sell any of those guys.”
