Michael Carrick is reportedly set to take charge at Manchester United with former England No. 2 Steve Holland joining as his assistant. The two will begin their first training session on Wednesday.
Carrick’s position as temporary head coach will be finalized later today. Holland, 55, returns to the Premier League for the first time since an extended stint at Chelsea.
Holland was Gareth Southgate’s main assistant throughout his tenure as England’s manager. He was fired from his most recent position as manager of the Japanese team Yokohama F Marinos in April.
Carrick’s backroom staff will also include Jonny Evans, Jonathan Woodgate, and Travis Binnion.

Fletcher Returns To His U-18 Head Coach Role
According to The Mirror, Fletcher will return to the Under-18s after managing a draw against Burnley and a loss at Brighton during his two games in charge.
Since United were looking for experience for the remainder of the season, Fletcher, 41, was aware that his temporary position would only last two games and that he would never be a real contender for the position until the end of the season.
The Scot has chosen to return to his position as head coach of the Under-18s for the remainder of the season despite being offered the opportunity to remain on Carrick’s first-team staff.
After making an impression in in-person meetings with director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada last Thursday, Carrick became the front-runner for the position.
The Manchester derby at Old Trafford on Saturday will be his first game as manager.
