Fernandes’ Social Media Account Hacked With Anti-Ineos Posts

Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes’ X account posted “let’s get rid of Ineos,” following the Red Devils’ FA Cup elimination on Sunday which the club have stated was hacked.

According to The Independent, the hacked posts, which have since been removed, attacked United’s minority owners, Ineos, during the team’s difficult period following Ruben Amorim’s midseason dismissal.

“Bruno Fernandes’s X account has been hacked,” the club said in a statement on the social media platform. “Supporters should not engage with any of the posts or direct messages.”

Ineos is owned by British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has taken command of football operations at Old Trafford. Since Amorim left, Ratcliffe’s ownership has been called into question.

United, meanwhile, are prepared to name former midfielder Michael Carrick as interim manager following Sunday’s FA Cup defeat to Brighton, which was handled by Darren Fletcher.

United will have their shortest season in more than a century, with a maximum of 40 games, after losing both the League Cup and FA Cup at the first hurdle this season and without playing in Europe.

They are still in seventh place in the standings ahead of Saturday’s Manchester derby versus City, one point short of fifth place, which might earn them Champions League participation at the end of the season.

In an interview earlier this season, 31-year-old United captain and talisman Fernandes stated that the team “wanted me to go” when Saudi Arabia expressed interest.
