Football legend, Roberto Carlos has reportedly admitted to the hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil, due to a cardiac condition. The procedure to correct it took more than three hours because of “complications.”

Carlos, 52, is considered one of the greatest full backs in history. He won the Champions League with Real Madrid in 1998, 2000, and 2002, as well as the World Cup with Brazil in 2002.

He was admitted to a hospital in his home country of Brazil due to a cardiac issue after a medical examination on his leg revealed a little blood clot.

According to Spanish publication AS, Carlos spent more than three hours in the operating room for the treatment, which took longer than the 40 minutes expected.

Carlos is “out of danger,” but he will be monitored for the next two days, according to the publication, which believes the operation was successful.

Carlos sent AS a message stating that he was “fine now” via his representatives.

The 52-year-old is believed to have experienced two health scares in 2025. The first occurred in April when the former Fenerbahce defender had to cancel a trip to Nepal.

Before it was revealed that Carlos had experienced “a sudden illness,” he was scheduled to come on April 18 to compete in the Nepal Super League.

Carlos, however arrived in Kathmandu a few days later for the competition’s finals after the visit was rescheduled.
