Liverpool Interested In Signing Alessandro Bastoni From Inter Milan Next Year

Liverpool’s form has improved with a streak of Premier League wins, relieving pressure on Arne Slot’s job while also putting them in contention for Champions League qualifying at the conclusion of the season.

While recent results have been positive for the Reds, they still need to rebuild their backline with a defender or two, and a huge acquisition could be on the horizon for next summer, since Virgil van Dijk is now over 30 years old.

According to Italian publication Quotidiano Sportivo, Liverpool are interested in signing Inter Milan centre defender Alessandro Bastoni, who is also wanted by Barcelona. Transfermarkt values him at £70 million, and his contract runs until June 2028.

Inter Milan are aiming to extend his contract at the Giuseppe Meazza beyond 2028, but a number of teams are hoping to leverage on Bastoni’s apparent refusal to sign an extension considering that he has won everything imaginable with the Serie A giants.

Liverpool swoop is a strong probability.

Given his several Serie A titles and other domestic achievements in Italy, Alessandro Bastoni could explore a move to Barcelona or Liverpool, though the Reds may prefer the La Liga giants.

Not only has Liverpool demonstrated a willingness to pay heavily in recent years, but Barcelona’s financial situation means they may be unable to grant Bastoni guarantees regarding being registered to play in La Liga, a challenge they have recently faced.

He has the potential to be a good replacement for Virgil van Dijk because to his defensive discipline, aerial talents, and physical power, but his ball-playing abilities make him the ideal modern-day defender to fit into Arne Slot’s system.

Bastoni is still 26 years old, so he has plenty of time ahead of him, including the peak years of his career. All things considered, he promises to be a top addition for Liverpool, and he may form a world-class centre-back duo with Marc Guehi.
