Mohamed Salah may have played his final game for Liverpool before the January transfer window, as he has jetted out to the Africa Cup of Nations.
That is according to former Manchester United and Blackburn senior scout Mick Brown, who is still highly well-connected in the league and exclusively informed Football Insider that the 33-year-old is still dissatisfied despite returning to the first-team squad.
Salah was greeted warmly by Liverpool supporters after coming on as Slot’s team defeated Brighton 2-0 the previous time out, in a show of solidarity for their renowned forward.
However, there is a growing sense that the issues that led to his dissatisfaction have not been remedied, despite being set aside for the sake of the team.
Despite Salah’s dissatisfaction, a January transfer would be difficult for clubs to carry off due to his AFCON participation and his importance to Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah unlikely to leave Liverpool in January?
On December 7, Football Insider revealed that Salah’s departure is unlikely in January, despite the fallout, but might be reconsidered in the summer.

Brown, who has extensive experience in top-level player recruitment having spending over a decade at Manchester United during their most successful period, stated that the winger is unlikely to leave Anfield in January as things stand.
“I was appalled when he came out and said what he said,” he told Football Insider.
“Obviously, Liverpool is going through a difficult time, but that’s when you need your leaders and big players to step up on the field and not throw their toys out the pram.”
“It appears that it has been addressed, at least for the time being, because he returned to the team and was greeted warmly by the audience.
“The concern I have is that if you give Salah the opportunity to prove himself and produce on the field, he will do so because that is the type of player he is.
“He has the ability to accomplish something in any individual game that makes you think, yes, that is why he is on the team.
“That’s why leaving him out was such a risky move for Slot, but the manager cannot allow himself to be undermined by the players, no matter who they are.
