Manchester United allegedly met with Roma officials recently to discuss a potential transfer for Joshua Zirkzee.
However, it appears that a deal is not imminent, and Roma may have other options if they are unable to land the Netherlands international.
Zirkzee hasn’t played much first-team football for Manchester United in recent years, so it’s understandable that his future is uncertain, but the new reports suggest that this situation could become more problematic.

Latest updates on Joshua Zirkzee and a likely Roma transfer.
According to Corriere dello Sport, United and Roma officials recently met in London to discuss a move for Zirkzee, but it appears that he is now too expensive for the Serie A club.
With no agreement in sight, it appears Roma is also interested in Atletico Madrid’s Giacomo Raspadori, according to Alfredo Pedulla’s article for Football Italia.
It will be fascinating to see what this implies for the Red Devils, who will undoubtedly need to drop their expectations for Zirkzee and focus only on removing him off their roster.
It’s difficult to see what United could gain from keeping Zirkzee for much longer, given that he is clearly not in Ruben Amorim’s plans.
Of course, there is always the argument that MUFC would benefit from having more depth in attack, but that is not a job the player will like, especially in a World Cup year.
United would also benefit from allowing Zirkzee to leave now and focusing on finding a replacement who will provide a better option up front.
If they leave the 24-year-old on the bench for too long, his worth would undoubtedly plummet, making it difficult to imagine a positive outcome from this plan.
