Pep Guardiola once again demonstrated his class both on and off the field after Manchester City’s 2-1 Champions League triumph at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday night.
The Spaniard was commended for his post-match gesture toward Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes.
Nico O’Reilly and Erling Haaland’s goals gave the Premier League giants a vital victory on the road.
However, Guardiola’s quick but sincere interaction with Rodrygo following the final whistle was one of the night’s most talked-about moments.

Guardiola Reacts To Rodrygo’s Performance
According to Fabrizio Romano, Guardiola spoke to the Brazilian forward in an interview with reporters after the game: “I went to Rodrygo and I told him, ‘What a player you are… he’s really unbelievable.’”
The incident rekindled rumors that Man City have long admired the Real Madrid player.
Guardiola’s kind remarks were sincere, but they unavoidably stoked transfer rumors, particularly since Rodrygo’s name was closely linked with a move to City during the summer transfer window of 2025.
Rodrygo, 24, has had a difficult season under manager Xabi Alonso. The Brazilian, who was once regarded as one of the most talented young forwards in the world of football, has battled for consistency and playing time, appearing intermittently in Madrid’s starting eleven.
Rodrygo had not scored in 281 days before this match. Despite Madrid’s loss, he finally ended his drought on Wednesday night with a calm finish that gave him much-needed confidence.
Rodrygo has been used by Alonso in a number of positions, including central striker, but his rhythm has been affected by the tactical changes.
According to reports, the winger has become frustrated by his lack of opportunities, and the Premier League has expressed interest.
