The 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season has been filled with different packages of surprise and we have not reached the half way.
Mohamed Salah (£14.1m) is the leader of the pack following a dismal start to the season after breaking the highest points record last campaign.
The Egyptian, priced at 14.5m at the start of the season, has dropped 0.4m no thanks to his heavy dip in form compared to the previous season where he amassed more than 100 points by this time. His 56 points this term is not even the highest among Liverpool assets.
To make matters worse, Salah was an unused substitute in the Reds’ 2-0 victory away at West Ham United which further added more pain for his existing owners and more than 270,000 managers, who brought him in ahead of the fixture.
Other assets, who have been unable to replicate their form from last season are Bukayo Saka (£10.1m), Ollie Watkins (£8.5m), Alexander Isak (£10.4m) and Chris Wood (£7.2m).
Talking about Wood, the Nottingham Forest target man has been far off from where he was the season before to the point that he has even lost his starting berth to summer signing Igor Jesus (£5.8m).
The surprise from a positive side which no one saw coming is Brentford forward, Igor Thiago (£6.7m).
Thiago, 24, has all but become the new favourite for several managers all thanks to his consistency in front of goal which is somewhat reminiscent of what Wood pulled last season.
The Brazilian has delivered 11 returns – including two in the Bees’ 3-1 win against Burnley – so far which has taken his total points for the campaign to 77.
Only Erling Haaland (£14.9m) and Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.4m) have recorded more points than the former Club Brugge star.
He was the most transferred-in player this gameweek and is currently leading ahead of GW14 as over 160,000 managers have decided to bring him in their team.
The most-transferred in player curse is broken:
Gameweek 9: Nick Woltemade ❌
Gameweek 10: Bryan Mbeumo ❌
Gameweek 11: Jean-Philippe Mateta ❌
Gameweek 12: Bryan Mbeumo ❌
Gameweek 13: Igor Thiago ⚽⚽Plenty of #FPL managers are very, very happy right now 🤩 pic.twitter.com/6FFgKKTZy5

With trips to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur coming next, it is advisable for managers, who are yet to transfer in Thiago to hold on to the thought.
Leeds United and Wolves, however, come next after those two matches which could prove difficult for Thiago and his Brentford teammates.
