Earlier this week, Chelsea defeated FC Barcelona 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League, and Marc Cucurella was one of the Blues’ standout players.
Given his past with the Catalan team, the 27-year-old left-back had the Barca match highlighted in red on his calendar.
After all, he had represented the Blaugrana for a number of years, but he never had a chance to play for the first team and only left after making one senior appearance.

The Chelsea player discussed his move from Barcelona in an interview with “Informe Plus,” which will appear on December 1 under the title “Cucu…” Cucurella.
“Not being given the opportunity hurts a little. I felt bad about it, but it made me grow a lot,” Cucurella said, as quoted by SPORT.
“Everything I’ve achieved so far, perhaps, if the decision had been different, I wouldn’t have achieved everything I have now,” he added.
As previously stated, Cucurella played just one senior game for Barcelona under Ernesto Valverde in a Copa del Rey encounter against Real Murcia in 2017.
The Spain international ended up going on loan to Eibar the following summer after Valverde never called him up again.
After making an impression, he signed a permanent contract with the team, but a year later in 2020, Barca re-signed him and loaned him to Getafe.
