Real Betis winger Antony has been left devastated after accepting he will almost certainly miss this weekend’s highly anticipated El Gran Derbi against Sevilla.
The Brazilian was sent off in last Sunday’s draw with Girona for a reckless challenge, and Betis’ attempts to overturn the suspension have repeatedly failed.
The club first appealed the red card to the Disciplinary Committee, but the request was immediately rejected.

According to reports from Marca, the Appeals Committee has now also dismissed Betis’ case, leaving the club with only one final route: seeking a precautionary suspension through the Administrative Court of Sport.
Despite that final attempt, the chances of success remain slim, and Antony appears to have already come to terms with the outcome.
‘This Week Was Very Hard’ – Antony Breaks Down
Speaking to Movistar+ after Betis’ Europa League win over FC Utrecht, the winger broke down in tears when asked about his likely absence.
He insisted there was no malicious intent in the challenge and admitted the emotional toll of the week had been heavy.
“For me it’s a very sad moment,” he said. “This week was very hard. I know the importance of this game and I wanted to be there on Sunday. I’m sad and angry, but I’ll support my teammates.”
Antony described the derby as “the most important game of the year” and revealed he had already imagined himself playing in the heated away atmosphere, reports Football Espana.
Although sidelined, he vowed to be present with the squad, offering energy from the sidelines as Betis chase a crucial three points.
