Legendary Barcelona Defender Discusses Camp Nou Redevelopment – “Should See It In Person”

Earlier this month, former Barcelona defender Jordi Alba was asked about Lamine Yamal and the similarities to Lionel Messi.

Alba quickly dismissed the analogy, claiming that Messi has no rivals and is in a league of his own.

Now, the famous defender has spoken on Barcelona’s much-anticipated return to Spotify Camp Nou.

Jordi Alba discusses the refurbished Camp Nou.

Speaking with Diario AS, the Inter Miami player was asked if he felt anything special when Barcelona returned to Camp Nou after two and a half years.

Alba discussed the Camp Nou improvements and expressed a desire to see the stadium in person soon.

“Of course, right?” After all, I played all of my matches at Camp Nou. They have recently completed remodeling and may… I should see it in person, but it will be different, and it will appear differently,” he remarked.

Alba, regarded as one of the best left-backs in club history, made over 450 competitive matches for Barcelona until leaving in 2023.

As a result, the Spaniard is already familiar with playing in front of a crowded Camp Nou stadium. Speaking of which, the veteran defender stated that the reopening of the famous stadium is fantastic news for all Barcelona supporters.

“I think it’s great news for all Barcelona fans that we’ll be able to play again at Camp Nou. And now, when I return, I’ll be able to visit them and appreciate this new generation,” he said.

Alba currently plays for Inter Miami, alongside former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suarez.

However, the defender will retire from professional football at the conclusion of the 2025 MLS season.
