Alba intercepted a Cincinnati pass and set up Messi through Mateo Silvetti, whose precise cross allowed Messi to meet the ball perfectly and beat goalkeeper Roman Celentano.

The 38-year-old returned the favour to Silvetti for his goal in the second half and later assisted two more goals for Tadeo Allende.

Messi Sets MLS Cup Playoff Record

With four goal contributions in this match, Messi now has 12 total in MLS Cup playoff history, the most by any player in the competition.

Since joining Inter Miami in 2023, Messi has transformed the club, guiding them to the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield and now to the Eastern Conference final.

This season, Messi has scored 43 goals in 47 appearances and registered 23 assists, making him a strong contender for back-to-back MLS MVP awards, reports Goal.

Head coach Javier Mascherano praised Messi’s influence, calling him “an amazing player” and emphasizing the need for continued focus to reach the MLS Cup final.

Inter Miami will face New York City FC in the Eastern Conference final on November 29, with fans optimistic that Messi can lead the team to their first MLS title.
