Liverpool Could Recall Midfielder From Loan Spell

Liverpool may decide to bring Harvey Elliott back from his January loan at Aston Villa since Unai Emery doesn’t seem to see him as a member of his starting lineup.

There was hope that Elliott would have a big influence before the World Cup when he joined Aston Villa on loan last summer.

However, given Emery’s reluctance to offer the Englishman any playing time, even off the bench, it appears increasingly probable that he has played his final game for Aston Villa.

As it stands, Elliott would find it difficult to break into the Aston Villa starting lineup. His most recent appearance came at the beginning of October.

Now, according to Football Insider, Liverpool are looking at the possibility of recalling Elliott back to Anfield.

Liverpool Regret Loaning Elliott To Aston Villa

Keith Wyness, the former chief executive of Everton, told the publication that Liverpool regret sending Elliott to Aston Villa and are now trying to make reparations.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, he explained: “There’s a possibility he could go back [in January].

“I’m sure like most of these loan deals, there will be a break clause in it for both clubs to reassess it.

“It’s pretty clear that this loan move is not going to plan for Harvey Elliott or Aston Villa right now.

“It’s not ideal for Villa, it’s not ideal for Liverpool and it’s definitely not ideal for Harvey Elliott who went to Villa in search of regular minutes.

“This sort of boosted his aspirations of trying to break into England’s squad, which looks further and further away now with his lack of action for Villa.”
