Man United Consider Move for ‘Once Famous’ PSG Star

Man United could make a surprise move to sign veteran midfielder Marco Verratti, who is currently playing in Qatar’s Stars League.

The Red Devils failed to strengthen their midfield during the summer transfer window, prioritising attacking reinforcements instead.

New arrivals Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko joined before goalkeeper Senne Lammens completed the club’s business on deadline day.

Manager Ruben Amorim now wants an experienced midfielder to stabilise Man United engine room, and Verratti has emerged as a possible short-term target.

Verratti’s Life in Qatar

According to Fichajes, United have been closely monitoring the 33-year-old Italian, who is under contract with Al-Duhail SC.

Verratti left Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 to pursue a new challenge in Qatar, where he earns around £24 million per year.

The Euro 2020 winner described the move as a “new experience,” adding that he wanted to help grow football in the region.

Despite his high salary, Verratti’s immense experience in European competitions makes him an attractive option for United. Sources suggest he could be tempted by a short-term Premier League return.

Currently, United’s lack of midfield depth has been exposed in several matches this season. Amorim reportedly sees Verratti as a player who can bring immediate control and composure.

If a deal is pursued, Verratti could join in January, offering leadership, creativity, and a touch of world-class pedigree to Old Trafford.
