Man United Weigh £53m January Bid For Conor Gallagher

Manchester United are reportedly considering a January move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher.

The Red Devils were keen to sign the England international on loan before the summer deadline, but Atletico refused to entertain the offer.

Now, United are said to be preparing a £53 million permanent bid for the 25-year-old.

Gallagher, who joined Atletico from Chelsea last year, enjoyed a strong debut season in La Liga, winning nearly 50% of his duels and averaging three recoveries per game.

Gallagher fits Amorim’s pressing style

Ruben Amorim’s United side have focused on players with Premier League experience — a strategy that has paid off with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo both adapting quickly.

Gallagher, a versatile midfielder capable of playing as a number six or number 10, could fill a key gap in United’s midfield.

He could offer high energy, pressing ability, and composure in possession — qualities currently lacking in Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte.

However, after spending nearly £200 million in the summer, United might opt for a loan deal with an obligation to buy instead of a full transfer in January.

World Cup motivation for Gallagher

With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Gallagher may be tempted by the chance of regular minutes at Old Trafford to boost his chances of making Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.

A Premier League return could be the perfect move for both Gallagher and United this winter, reports Football Talks.
