Estevao Willian had yet another memorable day wearing a Chelsea shirt. After scoring his first goal in official Blues (and Premier League) games in the 2-1 win against Liverpool at the start of October, the Brazilian winger scored for the first time in the Champions League.

Estevao became the youngest player in Chelsea history to score in a Champions League game. The former Palmeiras star scored the London club’s fourth goal in Wednesday’s 5-1 thumping of Ajax.

According to Sports Mole, Enzo Maresca praised the young Brazilian’s new special evening. The manager of the Blues once more emphasized Estevao’s outstanding ability as well as the maturity with which the young player has handled the beginning of his European career.

“It is exciting to see Estevao. The good side of him is that, sometimes, with young players, you are worried because, after a match, they play well and think they are the best. But he is polite, humble and wants to learn.”

Maresca reaffirmed that the striker’s swift adjustment to the new environment has also been largely due to his conduct off the field.

The Italian manager claimed that in order for the player to be ready for English football, his family situation was crucial.

“Estevao’s family have done a good job. We are happy with the way he presents himself, but also because he is a good boy, a good boy,” he concluded.

There was also a record-holder exchange during the London celebration evening.

Estevao, who is 18 years and 181 days old, became the youngest player to score for Chelsea in the Champions League when he scored the fourth goal in the team’s 5-1 victory over Ajax.
