Jamie Carragher Slams Arne Slot’s Handling Of Mohamed Salah At Liverpool

Jamie Carragher has backed Liverpool manager Arne Slot for benching Mohamed Salah during their 5-1 Champions League victory over Frankfurt.

Salah, 33, was left out of the starting lineup as Slot chose a new attacking trio of Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo, and Alexander Isak.

Carragher, speaking on CBS Sports, said Salah needed a rest after struggling to find form, scoring just three goals this season.

“When Salah isn’t performing at his legendary level, he should be treated like any other player — and that’s fair,” Carragher explained.

Carragher Praises Slot’s rotation Decision

The Liverpool legend highlighted Salah’s age and the club’s busy schedule as valid reasons for Slot’s rotation ahead of their weekend Premier League clash.

“He’s 33, Liverpool have three games in six days. Great decision from Arne,” Carragher added, praising Slot’s squad management and tactical boldness.

The Reds responded emphatically, overturning Rasmus Kristensen’s opener with goals from Ekitike, Van Dijk, Konate, Gakpo, and Szoboszlai in Germany.

Ekitike, who replaced Salah on the right flank, impressed by scoring against his former club and linking up effectively with his new teammates, reports Liverpool Echo

Salah was introduced in the 74th minute but failed to make a significant impact as the result was already beyond doubt at 5-1.

The win ended Liverpool’s four-game losing streak, and they now shift focus to Saturday’s Premier League trip to Brentford, aiming to close the gap on Arsenal.
