Hugo Ekitike Admits Truth About Alexander Isak And Liverpool Move

Hugo Ekitike has admitted his strike partnership with Alexander Isak is still a work in progress after the duo started together for Liverpool for the first time in their 5–1 Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The French forward, who joined Liverpool from Frankfurt for £79m last summer, scored against his former club to spark a dominant comeback from Arne Slot’s side.

Goals from Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Cody Gakpo, and Dominik Szoboszlai sealed a much-needed victory after the Reds’ disappointing loss to Manchester United, reports Echo.

However, Isak was forced off at half-time with a groin injury after missing several first-half chances, leaving Ekitike to lead the line alone in the second period.

The Sweden international has struggled for rhythm since arriving from Newcastle United, following a disrupted pre-season.

Ekitike confident Partnership Will Grow

Ekitike, who now has six goals and an assist in 12 games, believes the pair will soon find their chemistry.

“It was good, but not the best yet,” Ekitike told reporters. “We can improve together. He’s a very good player and the connection will come with time.”

The 22-year-old also credited his smooth Liverpool adaptation to the club’s atmosphere:

“I feel good here — great teammates, great staff, good life. I just want to keep going and stay calm.”
